In 1948,  a group of prominent area business people established The Concord Lions Club in cojunction with Lions International, for the purpose of helping those people who are less fortunate than ourselves. Our primary focus of aid is in  sight and hearing in the Greater Concord Area We have provided eye exams and glasses and hearing tests and hearing aids for those in need. This year Lion's International is heading up Project Sightfirst2, which is to help eradicate preventable blindness worldwide, and the Concord Lions has pledged $10,000 to aid in the fight. This program  helps through rehabilitation, research, and reaching out, and educating vulnerable populations in developing countries.

Our fund raising events include this year's RACE FEVER event which we hope to make an annual event. We also run 20/20 Raffles and 50/50 raffles along with ourWishing Well Barrells  and Lions Mints sales. We also are running games of chance, notably Texas Hold-em events at the local Dog Tracks in conjunction with the NH Pari-Mutual Commission. Throughout the year we also hold auctions and suppers to help finance our charitable  causes.

Some of the charities we have helped out  with donations or service work,in addition to the individuals aided,  Included are; NH Sight and Hearing Foundation, Operation Kid Sight which is eye screening for pre-school children, Annual Blind Awareness Walk, NH Association for the Blind, McGreal Sight Center, NH?ME Blind Bowlers Weekend, Concord Regional Association for Retarded Citizens, Capitol Region Food Program, Lions Youth Development of NH, HOBY Youth Seminars.
